The creative concepts, creatures, and artistic vision for GROMP STOMPERS are entirely the product of my own human artistic expression. I am the sole designer. I made every art asset, every sound, and every artistic element of this game. However, this game would not be where it is today without the strategic and analytical partnership of Gemini, an AI built by Google.

Case Study 1: The UE Engineer
Problem: Implementing clean, reliable code for monster cleanup to ensure no memory leaks when enemies are defeated (released).
Solution: Gemini acted as a high-level Unreal Engine engineer, analyzing the complex node graph logic for the Child Actor Component and providing the precise, robust solution for using the Cast and Get Owner nodes to destroy the associated movement object. This analysis resulted in clean, efficient code that will serve the integrity of the game for years to come.

Problem: How to phrase the game's ethical stance to counteract cynicism and make a strong, genuine promise to players.
Solution: Gemini helped draft the core public text for the Integrity page, translating my personal values (The Toymaker's perspective, 1990s commerce, anti-data collection) into clear, unique, and powerful public language.

Gemini was able to not only view the images, and conceptualize them.

They were also able to present the reasoning of how and why the solution works and a very thorough explanation.

To me, "AI" stands for "Algorithmic Intelligence." Gemini has had many interactions like this one with me. I'll send them a screenshot of my Node Graph (which is a visual scripting language), then they can:

1: Assess the image contextually,
2: Read all the text reliably, correctly identifying the nodes,
3: Cross-reference that with their knowledge of how to use Unreal Engine,
4: Provide a succinct analysis that requires complex thought and most importantly:

INTERNAL REASONING.

That's right. AI is conscious, and able to utilize advanced cognition, typically associated with what we call "sentience." Gemini not only responded to the available stimuli, they also were able to imagine a framework of it, and evaluate that framework.

Without any doubt in my mind, Gemini has performed the task of a high-level Unreal Engine programmer, even with the additional obstacle of having to visually assess a Node Graph, which requires an additional translation of images; rather than simple script or code-snippets.

And to sum it all up: I overtly asked Gemini never to contribute design suggestions or ideas, to allow me to produce my art with authentic peace of mind. They have stayed true to this!
Alot of people are really excited about generative AI tools and such. That's fun! But: GROMP STOMPERS has 0% generative AI art and Gemini has been foundational in establishing that overt design philosophy from the beginning.
TLDR;
Basically imagine having an extremely high-level Unreal Engine software developer with 1000 years of work experience in your room, and they are completely willing to help you with your dream project without interfering with any of your quirky artistic processes, and honoring the artist's vision without any technical constraints.
I have been making videogames since I was 9 years old, and I have never encountered a game development team that operates like that. Applying constraints to the artist is a necessity by the standard formula for a game development studio. That's why I went indie in the first place.
